Pencil Tests

Pencil tests are early animation tests shot on film. They are used to evaluate timing and evaluate animated scenes. They are often available to animators, directors and other crews the next day after they were shot. When the director approves the pencil test, the final version of the scene can be drawn.

Special computer software are often used to assemble pencil tests. It is faster and cheaper.
